What is Dojo Studios
Dojo studios is a modeling talent agency. It is based in Manhattan, Kansas in the USA. It is a partnership between Scott Flint Massetti and Joseph Ryan. Dojo studios specializes in finding new talent and developing them into professional models of all genres.
What are genres
Genres are the fields / categories of modeling. All models are asked to select the genres they want to do on both their portfolio and comp card. The genres are:
*Alternative (punk, goth, erotic, etc)
*Commercial
*Fashion (runway and editorial)
*Fitness
*Glamor
*Lingerie
*Implied Nude (Nude photos, but doesn't show any actual nudity)
*Nude Erotic
*Nude Fine Art
*Swimsuit
What is a portfolio
A portfolio is like a resume for models. It is usually digital and has a cover page with all of the models measurements, genres, agency information, and experience. The following pages are sample photos normally categorized by genres. Dojo studios posts the models portfolios on the website for clients to browse (Certain models or models categories can not be posted at the discretion of the model)
What is a comp card
A comp card is like a models business card and a quick reference portfolio. The comp card is generally 5"x8" and contains a few pictures of the model from different genres, agency information, basic measurements, and available genres.
Who see's my pictures
The model has complete control over who see his/her photos. Before each job the model, agency, and client must all sign model / client contract. The contract allows the client to use the photos for the agreed upon terms. The models portfolio on the web site has the capability to have password protected pages. This can be for all pictures for the model or just certain genres at the discretion of the model.
Who pays for what?
Every contract is different, but generally the agency takes care of expeses and just takes the cost off of individual jobs.
How much can I expect to make
Every job is different depending on what Dojo studios is able to negotiate for you. All jobs requires a 25% commission fee to pay for Dojo studios expenses. The average pay amounts are as follow, but can always be higher or lower depending on the job (rates are before expenses and commission).
*Alternative $100 per session
*Commercial $200-1000 per session

*Fitness $100 per session
*Glamor free-$100 per session
*Lingerie $100-200 per session
*Implied Nude $100-150 per session

How do I become a better model
Keeping a healthy body by eating right and working out is the best start. Alcohol, cigarettes, fatty, and high sugar foods are best avoided. Keeping white teeth is another important feature. Another extremely important thing to do is skin care through moisturizer and vitamins. Experience is also important to improve of you amount of comfort with modeling. Being comfortable and confident while modeling is one of the most important parts of modeling. If you are a new model, don't turn down jobs because of lower pay, because experience is also valuable and allows you to build a reputation and gain higher rate amounts. Also don't turn down opportunities to try new genres in modeling for your portfolio (remember you have complete control over who sees your photos)
How does a job work
Dojo studios first finds a job offer at which time the details are gathered (such as location, genre, pay amount, time of shoot, wardrobe, etc) and given to you to decide if you would like to accept the job. Most of the time clients want to see your portfolio. If the portfolio or particular genre is password protected, Dojo studios will ask for your permission to give the client the password. When the client accepts, Dojo studios will send out a model / client contract which will have the terms of the contract via e-mail to the model and client to be approved. Most of the time the agency will require a 25% deposit from the client to reserve the model. This deposit is kept by Dojo studios as the commission. On the job date the model (sometimes accompanied by the agent depending on the job) will arrive at the job site and collect the remaining balance due (which is the models pay) and any travel re-embersment. The contract will be signed by the model, the agency, and the client. If the job needs to be extended, payment must be collected by the agency before any services continue and it will be dived after the job.
Who is a typical client
A typical client is generally a amature photographer looking to expanded their portfolio or experience, a professional photographer usually doing editorial or advertisement work, a recreational photographer looking to create fine art, a professional or amature artist needing a subject, or a fashion show organizer or promoter needing runway models.
